Yuki Gambaryan, the wife of Tigran Gambaryan, described her husband’s eight-month detention in Nigeria as a “living nightmare” in an emotional statement released on Thursday. She expressed immense relief following Tigran’s release after the charges against him were dropped by a court in Abuja.

Tigran Gambaryan, an American citizen and employee of Binance Holdings Limited, left Nigeria on Thursday to reunite with his family. His detention was initiated by the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which ultimately decided to discontinue the case against him due to “critical international and diplomatic reasons,” as stated by the EFCC prosecutor in court.

Yuki shared the impact of the ordeal on their family, stating, “It is a huge relief that this day has finally come. The past eight months have been a living nightmare. I wish it hadn’t taken this long for his release, or that his health had not declined so much, but we can now focus on healing as a family.” She expressed gratitude to the US government for their efforts in securing Tigran’s release and thanked supporters who provided hope and strength during the difficult time.

Tigran was released from Kuje prison after experiencing significant health issues during his incarceration and is now set to receive the medical attention he needs. Yuki remarked, “The road ahead for Tigran’s recovery is going to be difficult, and I appreciate us being given the time and space to focus on that. Our children cannot wait to see their dad again.”

Binance CEO Richard Teng also commented on Tigran’s release, expressing relief and gratitude. He acknowledged Tigran’s immense strength during this challenging period and commended his resilience in facing such adversity. Teng thanked all those who supported Tigran throughout the ordeal, emphasizing the collective effort that contributed to his release.
