The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that repairs will commence on the Ugwuaji–Apir 330 Kilo-Volt (KV) Double Circuit transmission line following the discovery of a fault at Igumale in Benue State. A team of linesmen from TCN identified the fault around 5 pm on Wednesday, according to Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs.

The fault involves a snapped 330kV transmission line in a swampy forest area, affecting about one span of the line. Arrangements are being made to mobilize the necessary equipment and materials from TCN’s Enugu Regional office to the site. This includes a bulldozer and a Hiab vehicle to assist in tensioning the transmission line for repairs.

The fault on the 215-kilometer transmission line, which tripped on October 21, led to power outages across the North East, North West, and parts of the North Central regions. Two earlier attempts to locate the issue were unsuccessful until Wednesday evening.

Mbah assured that TCN is committed to resolving the situation swiftly and thanked the affected states for their patience during this period.
