The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that the 2024 CAF Awards will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16, 2024. This marks the third consecutive occasion that Morocco will host this prestigious event, following last year’s successful ceremony that celebrated African football talent.
Marrakech, renowned for its rich culture and vibrant tourism scene, will again serve as the backdrop for honoring excellence in African football. The awards will recognize outstanding performances in club and national competitions, with the highlights being the CAF African Player of the Year titles for both men and women.
While the final list of nominees for Africa’s Best Player is yet to be finalized, several notable contenders are expected to vie for the coveted accolade. These include Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, and Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, all of whom have made significant impacts in their leagues and competitions this year.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, the reigning African Footballer of the Year in the men’s category, continues to showcase his dominance on both club and international stages. In the women’s category, Asisat Oshoala, another Nigerian football star, retains her title following an impressive year.
CAF has not yet confirmed the official start time for the 2024 ceremony, with more details anticipated in the near future.
