The Court of Appeal in Lagos has reserved judgment in the case challenging the installation of Kabiru Adewale Shotobi as the Oba Ayangburen of Ikorodu. Justice Muhammed Mustapha presided over the hearing, during which the parties involved presented their briefs of argument.

Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, representing the appellants, urged the court to overturn the judgment of the lower court and grant all the reliefs sought. Conversely, Olusegun Fabunmi, SAN, counsel for the first to sixth respondents, opposed this request and asked the court to uphold the lower court’s decision.

The lower court, presided over by Justice M. Savage, had previously ratified Kabiru Shotobi’s installation as Oba Ayangburen. Dissatisfied with this ruling, the appellants, identified as the Lambo branch of the Lasunwon Ruling House, are seeking to have the decision overturned. The appellants, including Matthew Shodipo, Omobo Sokelu, Shakiru Shodipo, Nurudeen Fakomaya, and Albert Ania, argue that the trial judge erred by ruling that the third to sixth respondents were not parties to a previous suit and thus not bound by its decision.

The appellate court will communicate the date for the judgment to all parties involved.
