Esinjemiyotan Atsepoyi, wife of popular Nigerian comedian Mr. Jollof (Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi), has filed a N500 million defamation lawsuit against activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
The lawsuit follows a series of allegations made by Otse, who accused Mrs. Atsepoyi of using improper means to help her husband secure the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on New Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. VeryDarkMan further alleged that she had committed adultery with a “Yahoo boy” and “several politicians.”
In response to these accusations, Esinjemiyotan Atsepoyi issued a 30-day ultimatum for Otse to appear in court and defend his claims. She publicly shared a four-page writ of summons detailing the allegations on social media, demanding N500 million in damages for the harm to her reputation and business.
The lawsuit also requests that the court order VeryDarkMan to issue a public apology in at least two national newspapers and on his social media platforms. The suit outlines the defamatory remarks made between September 15th to 19th, 2024, and seeks an injunction to prevent further defamatory statements against Mrs. Atsepoyi.
This legal battle has drawn attention due to the gravity of the allegations and the potential implications for both parties involved.
