Donald Trump boasted on Wednesday about his almost daily conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming to have a “very good relationship” with him. At a campaign rally in Georgia, Trump referred to Netanyahu as “Bibi” and stated, “Bibi called me yesterday, called me the day before. We have a very good relationship. We’re going to work with them very closely.”
Trump has previously positioned himself as Israel’s “protector,” emphasizing that Netanyahu’s government must “finish the problem” in its ongoing conflict with Hamas. He also recounted a recent telephone conversation where he claimed Netanyahu sought his views on various matters.
In contrast, the last public call between current U.S. President Joe Biden and Netanyahu occurred on October 17, when Biden congratulated Netanyahu on the elimination of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar. During his visit to the U.S. Congress in July, Netanyahu expressed gratitude to Trump for his contributions to Israel.
