Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced that his administration has disbursed N2 billion in grants to 19,023 beneficiaries, primarily targeting unemployed youths and vulnerable individuals within the state. This initiative is part of the government’s Labour-Intensive Public Works (LIPW) program.

During the launch of the orientation and disbursement event under the OD-CARES social transfer and LIPW programs on Wednesday in Akure, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the goal of reducing poverty and bolstering the local economy. He also directed the enrollment of an additional 1,000 beneficiaries to empower more unemployed youths.

Aiyedatiwa highlighted that the Federal Government has contributed N2 billion to assist 77,000 individuals under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the Ondo State Conditional Cash Transfer Unit has supported over 7,500 residents through the OD-CARES program.

He further revealed that more than N2 billion has been allocated to aid the elderly and chronically ill adults, with 2,870 beneficiaries receiving bi-monthly stipends of N20,000 each. Plans are also underway to enroll an additional 5,000 new beneficiaries.

“Our resolve to transform lives is a continuous exercise. We assure you that our administration will work tirelessly to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens receive the support they deserve,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
