For the third consecutive month, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. Initially scheduled for August, the meeting was first rescheduled to September, then to October 2, and now has been moved to November 28.

The latest decision to postpone the meeting was made during an enlarged session of the PDP Governors Forum, which included members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Working Committee (NWC), and former governors. This meeting commenced at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and continued into the early hours of Wednesday.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who chairs the PDP-GF, read a communique following the meeting. He explained that the postponement aims to allow party leaders to focus on the upcoming Ondo governorship election.

In the communique, he stated: “Rising from the consultative meeting of the various organs of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Party resolved as follows: [details to follow].”

This ongoing delay in convening the NEC meeting has raised concerns among party members about the state of internal unity and leadership within the PDP as they prepare for critical elections.
