In an expanded meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, key party stakeholders gathered to address the urgent need for reconciliation within the party. Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, speaking during his opening remarks, emphasized that the meeting’s sole agenda was reconciliation among PDP members, aiming to unite the party under a shared vision.

“This is a PDP meeting. It is not a governor’s meeting, it is not a caucus meeting but a meeting of PDP stakeholders,” Mohammed stated, underscoring the importance of collective efforts to ensure the party’s strength and relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape. He further stressed the party’s commitment to preventing Nigeria from becoming a one-party state, vowing to use the PDP’s experience since 1999 to offer a credible alternative to the ruling party.

Only five of the party’s 13 governors were present at the time of reporting, including Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Siminalaye Fubara (Rivers), Caleb Muftwan (Plateau), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun). Despite the low turnout, the meeting reflected a determined effort to rebuild the PDP and strengthen its leadership under Amb. Umar Damagum.
