The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially confirmed the arrest of convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky. This revelation follows a video posted by social media influencer and activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who disclosed the news earlier.
The announcement coincides with the findings of an investigative panel that had been looking into allegations that Bobrisky was improperly kept out of the custodial center during his six-month prison sentence. The panel’s report, released yesterday, dismissed these claims. The Interior Minister assured the public that the report would be thoroughly addressed, and any individuals implicated would face legal consequences.
NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, stated that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme Border while attempting to flee the country. He described Bobrisky as a “person of interest” concerning recent public concerns. Udo added, “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, NIS intercepted Okuneye at the Seme Border due to an attempt to exit the country. He is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.”
Martins Otse alleged that Bobrisky’s arrest is connected to efforts to evade an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives. The NIS reassured the public of its commitment to professionalism and civility in managing the nation’s borders
