Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has addressed recent marriage rumors, clarifying that Farouk Umar, often cited as her “supposed husband,” is actually her friend. This clarification comes after a video featuring Makinwa and Umar went viral on social media.
Reflecting on her divorce during her birthday thanksgiving a few days ago, Makinwa expressed deep gratitude to God, revealing she felt as though she might not survive the experience but found strength through divine intervention.
She shared, “Jesus, you have comforted me when friends left me. You saw me through a divorce. When I thought I was going to die, somehow you held me together. Even when I showed a frail faith, you knew I was not frail. Somehow you made me a tiger. You are the one that liveth. You are the one that will never fail.”
Makinwa also praised her supportive friends, saying, “I thank God for all my friends here. I am grateful that I am not looking out for you guys; I am looking up. I have not been the best friend, but somehow you see something in me, and I appreciate that.”
She emphasized Farouk’s unwavering support, reiterating that he is her best friend. “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy. This guy is my best friend. Farouk held me down when there was nobody.”
