In his article “Poverty of Thought, Not Thought of Poverty,” Owei Lakemfa remarked, “One consequence of NATO’s invasion of Libya in 2011 was the enslavement of numerous Nigerians, who were either sold as commodities or abducted for ransom.

“Additionally, the invasion resulted in an unchecked flow of arms into various African nations, particularly Nigeria.”

He continued, “By permitting the Eagles to fly to Benghazi, the Nigerian government took a significant risk.

“Unfortunately, when our national team needed diplomatic guidance in Libya, Nigeria lacked an ambassador.

“Interestingly, Libya also did not have an ambassador in Nigeria! The lesson for us, fellow Nigerians, is that when the home of any African brother is ablaze, we should strive to extinguish the flames, not pour gasoline on the fire as we did in Libya.”
