This year’s Jameson Distillery on Tour (JDOT) transformed into a captivating sensory experience, delighting food enthusiasts and whiskey lovers alike. Held from September 27 to October 1, 2024, at the National Theatre in Lagos, the third edition of JDOT showcased not only the artistry of Jameson Irish Whiskey but also a diverse array of culinary delights.

Recognizing the significance of food in Nigerian culture, JDOT collaborated with some of Lagos’ top culinary talents. On the fourth day of the event, gourmet junk food took center stage in partnership with Kewa’s Kitchen, creating a unique gastronomic experience designed to complement the smooth, triple-distilled flavors of Jameson.

Breaking away from traditional food pairings, Jameson teamed up with Kewa’s Kitchen, known for its innovative take on street food, to elevate “junk food” into gourmet experiences that paired beautifully with whiskey. Attendees were welcomed with food booths offering a range of gourmet options, each crafted to harmonize with a specific Jameson cocktail. This creative approach demonstrated that whiskey could be enjoyed just as well with gourmet dirty buns as with more conventional fare like steak.

Kewa’s Kitchen featured crowd-pleasing items such as crispy fried chicken, burgers with inventive toppings, and loaded fries smothered in rich sauces, all designed to enhance the whiskey tasting experience.

The collaboration with Kewa’s Kitchen played a pivotal role in creating a unique culinary atmosphere at JDOT 2024. Renowned for transforming ordinary dishes with bold flavors and modern twists, Kewa’s Kitchen’s focus on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients aligns with Jameson’s commitment to inclusivity and authenticity.

The dining experience at JDOT illustrated how Jameson, rooted in rich Irish heritage, connects with local communities by celebrating both its origins and the contemporary culture of its audience. Bodam Taiwo, Head of Portfolio at Pernod Ricard Nigeria, emphasized that JDOT is not just about whiskey but about celebrating the experiences and people that enrich life. He expressed pride in partnering with outstanding collaborators like Kewa’s Kitchen to create something genuinely unique for the JDOT community.

This year’s event was a testament to the power of food and drink in bringing people together, highlighting the rich tapestry of flavors and experiences that define Nigerian culture.
