The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on a section of Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, to facilitate end-of-year decorations by Zenith Bank Plc. The diversion will take place over three weekends, starting from October 19.

Traffic Management Plan

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, provided details of the traffic management plan in a statement on Wednesday. The diversion will be implemented in three phases, with each phase targeting different sections of the street:

  1. Phase 1: October 19-20
    • This phase will cover the stretch from Jubril Martins to Chicken Republic.
    • Traffic heading towards the Eko-Hotel Roundabout will be diverted to the existing section of Ajose Adeogun Street by VCP Hotel, forming a contra-flow traffic arrangement that will exit at Eko-Hotel Roundabout.
    • Alternatively, traffic from VCP Hotel towards Eko-Hotel Roundabout will be redirected through Jubril Martins into Muri Okunola, linking Patience Coker before accessing Ajose Adeogun Street.
  2. Phase 2: October 26-27
    • This phase will focus on the section from Molade Okoya Thomas to Mounis Bashorun.
    • Traffic heading towards Ajose Adeogun Street from Eko-Hotel Roundabout will be directed to turn right into Molade Okoya Thomas, allowing access to Mounis Bashorun and then continuing to Ajose Adeogun Street.
  3. Phase 3: November 2
    • The final phase will cover the area extending 10 meters into Ajose Adeogun Street.
    • Motorists coming from Adetokunbo Ademola Street will maintain lane movement for about 10 meters into Ajose Adeogun Street to connect with their destinations.
    • Those heading toward Eko-Hotel Roundabout will also be allowed to maintain lane movement for a similar distance into the roundabout.

Advisory for Motorists

Mr. Osiyemi encouraged motorists to be aware of the diversion plans and assured them that traffic managers would be present on-site to help minimize inconveniences during the decoration process.
