FLYING EAGLES SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR WAFU B U-20 CHAMPIONSHIP IN TOGO

Head Coach Aliyu Zubair has selected talented midfielder Nasiru Salihu and forward Charles Agada among a list of 20 players to represent Nigeria at the WAFU B U-20 Championship, which kicks off in Lome, Togo, on Thursday. This championship serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The contingent of 20 players, along with 12 officials, arrived in Lome on Tuesday afternoon after an intensive one-week final camping program at the high-grade Remo Stars Training Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.

In support of the team, the President of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Remo Stars, Hon. Kunle Soname, has promised the Flying Eagles the sum of ₦5 million if the cup holders successfully defend their title in Togo. Additionally, Soname donated ₦1 million to the team before their departure from the Remo Stars complex on Monday.

The Flying Eagles, who won the last edition of the competition held in Niamey, Niger Republic, will face their counterparts from Burkina Faso on Friday in their first match. They will also compete against Cote d’Ivoire in a three-team Group B, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Group A features hosts Togo, Ghana, Niger Republic, and Benin Republic.
