Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have urged members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to resolve their disputes in the interest of unity and progress within the party. This call came through a communique issued after a two-day virtual meeting held on October 14 and 15, 2024, chaired by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, who is also the Governor of Bauchi State.

The governors, after consulting with the PDP’s Board of Trustees and other party organs, emphasized the necessity of unity within the NWC. They instructed all members to revert to the status quo and collaborate, announcing the immediate lifting of all suspensions imposed on NWC officials.

The communique stated, “The organs of the party were careful in addressing issues, particularly those involving ongoing legal disputes. The NWC should revert to the status quo and remain united in the interest of the party and the nation.” It further emphasized that there are no factions within the party, urging members not to exaggerate minor issues.

Additionally, the governors reminded officeholders of their responsibility to serve and strengthen the party, aligning with the vision of the founding fathers.

The meeting included participation from several key party governors, such as:

  • H.E. Senator Bala Abdulkarim Mohammed (Bauchi State) – Chairman
  • H.E. Sir Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State) – Vice Chairman
  • H.E. Senator Douye Diri (Bayelsa State)
  • H.E. Mr. Godwin Obaseki (Edo State)
  • H.E. Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde (Oyo State)
  • H.E. Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun State)

  • H.E. Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa State)
  • H.E. Barrister Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau State)
  • H.E. Dr. Peter Mbah (Enugu State)

The communique reflects the PDP’s commitment to resolving internal conflicts and fostering cohesion as the party prepares for upcoming political challenges.
