The Nigerian Red Cross Society has mobilized volunteers to assist in areas considered vulnerable to Mpox as the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) recently confirmed 94 cases across the country. These volunteers will focus on community outreach, disease prevention awareness, and supporting healthcare facilities with essential supplies and equipment.

President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, made this announcement during a Mpox Training of Trainers event in Abuja. He highlighted that the initiative, in collaboration with the Norwegian Red Cross and NCDC, aims to bolster the national response to the Mpox outbreak. Adeaga emphasized that their extensive network of over 800,000 members across the country is being leveraged to address the emerging health challenge efficiently.

Through the deployment of volunteers, the Red Cross aims to strengthen public health efforts in the fight against Mpox, ensuring vulnerable communities receive the support they need.
