The Executive Chairman of Agatu Local Government Council in Benue State, Hon. Melvin Ejeh, has vowed to take decisive action against the perpetrators of recent attacks in parts of the local government area. Expressing his sadness over the repeated assaults by suspected herdsmen, Ejeh emphasized that those responsible would not escape justice.

In a statement he personally signed, Ejeh stated that every necessary measure would be implemented to track down the arsonists and their sponsors, ensuring they face the full consequences of the law. He warned individuals inciting crises in the region to either relocate or surrender to the authorities, asserting that a new sheriff is in town and that it would no longer be business as usual.

Ejeh extended his gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the Service Chiefs for their prompt response and intervention through Operation Whirl Stroke and the Nigeria Police, which helped repel the bandits and restore peace to the community.

As the Vice Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Benue State chapter, Ejeh urged the residents of Agatu to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, despite the unprovoked attacks. He assured them that security agencies would pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

He revealed that clearance operations have already begun throughout the Agatu area and will be sustained to prevent the influx of bandits and herdsmen into the land. Ejeh vowed that his administration would not rest until every inch of Agatu land is recovered for the people, assuring that “no part of Agatu will be lost to the bandits.”
