STEPHANIE OKEREKE LINUS NAMED JURY MEMBER FOR ZUMA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Seasoned actress and filmmaker Stephanie Okereke Linus has been named among the distinguished film experts who will join the jury of the upcoming Zuma International Film Festival (ZUFF).

Scheduled to take place in Abuja from December 1 to 5, the festival promises an exciting lineup, with the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) recently briefing journalists on what to expect. The theme for this 14th edition is “Digital Renaissance: Embracing the Future,” reflecting the transformative power of digital technology in filmmaking.

In addition to Linus, the NFC announced that it has received an impressive 3,120 submissions from various regions, including countries such as Iran, India, the United States, Spain, and France, as well as Nigeria.

Dr. Ali Nuhu, Managing Director/Chief Executive of the NFC, emphasized the significance of the festival, stating, “The Zuma International Film Festival is more than an event. It is a movement that promotes Nigeria’s cultural and creative economy. The festival creates jobs, empowers the youth, and fosters collaborations across borders.”

Stephanie Linus is recognized as a creative powerhouse in the Nigerian film industry, with numerous accolades throughout her career, including the 2003 Reel Award for Best Actress and the 2006 Afro Hollywood Award for Best Actress. She has also been nominated three times for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2005, 2009, and 2010. In 2011, she was honored with the national title of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

Her involvement in the ZUFF jury underscores her esteemed position in the film industry and her commitment to advancing the art of filmmaking in Nigeria.
