The Borno State Police Command has successfully re-arrested Kyari Kur (aka Henry), a 28-year-old convict who escaped from prison after the flood disaster in Maiduguri in September 2024, which led to the collapse of the prison’s fence. Kyari Kur was serving time for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri when he and several other inmates escaped during the incident.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kenneth Daso, on Friday, the police surveillance team at Gubio divisional headquarters received credible information that Kur had been sighted in Gubio town. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended the fugitive. Kur has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.

The Borno Police Command has expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and urged citizens to continue reporting any suspicious activities, particularly concerning escaped prisoners.
