Fagbamigbe has advised the Federal Government to procure and install advanced equipment at the nation’s borders to bolster security. He emphasized that modern surveillance technology is essential due to the escalating insecurity challenges facing the country.

He outlined various forms of insecurity, including trafficking in illicit drugs and human trafficking, as critical issues affecting Nigeria. According to Fagbamigbe, border policing has evolved from relying solely on human personnel to incorporating sophisticated electronic-based equipment for more efficient and results-oriented operations.

He highlighted that the porous nature of Nigeria’s borders has facilitated the proliferation of illegal drug and human trafficking throughout the country. The retired Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) boss noted that deploying technologies such as electronic sensors, video monitors, and night vision scopes for detecting illegal entries has proven more effective in Western countries compared to human security alone.

Fagbamigbe also pointed out that advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, drones, and dark fighter cameras, could significantly enhance border control efforts. He stressed the need to strengthen areas related to border surveillance, security, and stability to address these pressing challenges.
