The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that four corps members who absconded from their duty posts will be required to repeat their service year. This decision was made during the Passing-Out Parade for the 2023 Batch “C” Stream I corps members in Gombe State on Thursday.

State NYSC Coordinator Chinwe Nwachuku confirmed that three additional corps members would have their service years extended due to disciplinary actions taken by the Corps Disciplinary Committee. A total of 1,210 corps members, comprising 662 males and 548 females, successfully completed their service in Gombe.

In her address to the outgoing corps members, Nwachuku encouraged them to leverage the skills and training they acquired during their service. She emphasized the importance of applying this knowledge to future endeavors, whether in further education, careers, or entrepreneurship.

“As you prepare to move on to the next level of your lives, I encourage you to take with you the training, skills, education, and knowledge you have acquired,” she stated, highlighting the potential for these young individuals to make meaningful contributions to society.

Nwachuku also expressed hope that the cultural insights gained during their service would foster national integration and unity in Nigeria.
