The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Wednesday destroyed harmful products worth ₦10 billion in Gombe. The destroyed items, which included food products, drugs, and other regulated goods, were seized from the North East states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Taraba, Gombe, and Yobe.

Speaking at the event, NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, represented by Zonal Director Kenneth Azukwe, praised the efforts of the agency’s regulatory and enforcement officers who intercepted and confiscated the dangerous products. Adeyeye reiterated NAFDAC’s commitment to ensuring that only safe and high-quality products are sold and consumed in Nigeria.

“This destruction serves as a warning to unscrupulous individuals that NAFDAC will continue its efforts to protect public health,” Adeyeye said, adding that the agency will strengthen its regulatory frameworks and bring violators to justice. She emphasized the use of advanced technologies, laboratory analyses, and robust enforcement to ensure only top-quality products reach the market.

NAFDAC’s Gombe Coordinator, James Agada, revealed that some expired products were voluntarily surrendered, while Gombe’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Habu Dahiru, commended the agency’s efforts in reducing disease spread by removing harmful products from circulation.
