In an effort to alleviate the financial pressure on Nigeria’s working population, the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has launched a consumer loan program aimed at helping citizens manage the effects of rising petrol prices.

As of yesterday, a total of 10,942 civil servants across various sectors have benefited from this initiative, with more recipients being added daily.

The Corporation announced this milestone in a publication detailing the fifth-day disbursement of funds.

According to the breakdown of beneficiaries provided, education workers and teachers represent the largest group, with 4,786 individuals receiving loans. This is followed by administrators, who account for 2,831 beneficiaries, while doctors and healthcare workers have 1,307 participants in the program.

Additionally, 1,264 police and paramilitary officers have benefited, along with 753 specialized workers.

The loan program is designed to operate through financial institutions to provide accessible and affordable credit to economically active citizens, assisting households in meeting urgent needs with ease.
