Former governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ekiti State, Kemi Elebute-Halle, has affirmed that she has no intention of unseating the state’s current governor, Biodun Oyebanji. She made this statement during her official defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

Elebute-Halle explained that her decision to join the ruling party, along with thousands of her supporters from the state’s 16 local government areas, was due to her admiration for Governor Oyebanji’s leadership style and the developmental initiatives he has implemented in the state. She also expressed her support for President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which she believes aligns with Governor Oyebanji’s efforts to improve the lives of Ekiti residents.

In her remarks, Elebute-Halle stated, “I defected with my supporters… because I believe in the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of Mr. President and for having a good governor in Ekiti State… I have told the governor to relax, I am not a traitor. I only want to work with him… My intention is not to unseat Mr. Governor but to work with him as a progressive partner.”

The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Monisade Afuye, welcomed Elebute-Halle and her supporters into the APC, praising the governor’s achievements over the past two years, which played a key role in Elebute-Halle’s decision to switch parties.
