In response to the recent flooding that submerged parts of Ondo City, Abiola Makinde, the member representing the Ondo East/West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, conducted an on-the-spot assessment over the weekend. His goal was to identify lasting solutions to the flooding and to provide support for the residents affected by this natural disaster.

Accompanied by Wale Akinsotu, the State Commissioner for Information, Makinde commended the resilience and solidarity displayed by constituents during the crisis. Social media videos showcased brave community members who worked together to rescue individuals in danger of being swept away by the floodwaters.

The assessment included visits to critical areas such as the canal along Ife Road, the canal at Fagun Estate, and the bridge at Oke-Odunwo. These locations were selected to determine the root causes of the frequent flooding in the region.

During the visit, Makinde assured his constituents that he would leverage all available resources as their representative in the National Assembly. He emphasized his commitment to reaching out to relevant government agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to facilitate assistance for those affected by the flooding.

Makinde also expressed his gratitude to Ondo State Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who, despite being out of the state during the flooding, promptly dispatched members of his cabinet to assess the situation and seek effective solutions to the disaster.
