The Action Peoples Party (APP) has praised Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State for ensuring a level playing field during the local government elections held on Saturday. The party commended the governor’s commitment to fairness and transparency before, during, and after the elections.

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), chaired by Justice Adolphus Enebeli (rtd), was also lauded for conducting a transparent and credible poll. The APP secured victories in 22 out of 23 local government chairmanship seats and numerous councillorship positions across the state.

Hon. Sunny N. Wokekoro, State Chairman of the APP, expressed gratitude to Governor Fubara for fostering a peaceful election process, despite his political party not being on the ballot. Wokekoro stated, “I would like to congratulate RSIEC under the leadership of Retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli for organizing timely and efficient elections, marking a significant improvement compared to previous elections conducted by INEC.”

He noted that the timely arrival of election materials allowed voters to cast their ballots without issues and acknowledged the resilience of Rivers State residents for voting in large numbers for the party’s candidates.

Wokekoro assured the electorate that the APP would introduce leadership that addresses grassroots needs and prioritize the welfare of the people. He stated, “This victory was hard-earned; we campaigned vigorously across the state. I assure the people of Rivers that the APP will not let them down.”

He concluded with optimism about the potential for the APP’s grassroots leadership to convince Governor Fubara to join the party in the future, stating, “Our vision is for a new Nigeria and a new Rivers State.”
