As anticipation builds for Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) 2024, the event’s organizers are excited to announce the Lagos State Government as both sponsors and official partners for this year’s showcase. This partnership is seen as a significant milestone for AFWL and the broader African fashion industry.

Queen Ronke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, the founder of AFWL, expressed her enthusiasm, stating that Lagos is not just a city but a vibrant hub of creativity, innovation, and style. “Our fashion industry is thriving, showcasing African talent and aesthetics to the world,” she noted. Lagos, with its bustling markets like Balogun, Allen, and Tejuosho, as well as high-end boutiques in Victoria Island and Ikoyi, offers a diverse shopping experience that reflects its status as Africa’s fashion capital.

Queen Ronke highlighted the importance of Lagos State’s support, stating, “Lagos State is leading the way as a fashion tourism destination in Africa. With their support, we can unlock our full potential and showcase African and Nigerian creativity and style on a global stage.”

This year’s AFWL is scheduled for October 11-12 at the Kensington and Chelsea Event Centre, promising to be a spectacular affair, even bigger and better than previous editions. Mrs. Toke Benson Awoyinka, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, will represent the Lagos Government and deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for what is expected to be an incredible two-day event filled with fashion and cultural extravagance.

The collaboration with Lagos State is anticipated to enhance the visibility of African designers and promote the continent’s rich fashion heritage on an international platform, solidifying AFWL’s position as the world’s largest showcase of African talent.
