In commemoration of the 2024 World Teachers’ Day, Wholistic Edu-Consult, in partnership with Ojo Local Government, empowered 200 head teachers and their assistants through a specialized training program. This year’s World Teachers’ Day theme, “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” highlights the significance of including teachers in shaping educational policies and practices.
Mrs. Olubunmi Odiaka, Lead Consultant at Wholistic Edu-Consult, emphasized the importance of motivating and supporting teachers to build resilience and establish a sustainable life beyond their service years. According to Odiaka, equipping head teachers and their assistants with leadership skills ensures that this knowledge will trickle down to other teachers and benefit students as well. She also lauded the support from Ojo Local Government, led by Hon. Rosulu Idowu, which made the initiative possible.
“This dream began in 2010, but it was not fully realized until 2023, when we held our first teacher leadership conference, training over 500 teachers here in Ojo,” Odiaka noted, expressing her joy in seeing educators step up as leaders in society.
Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Hon. Rosulu Idowu, acknowledged the essential role teachers play in shaping the minds of the youth. He praised their dedication, passion, and commitment, which he described as cornerstones of societal progress. He highlighted the training as an opportunity for teachers to share best practices, learn from one another, and develop the leadership skills necessary to address future challenges in education.
By fostering collaboration and professional growth, the initiative aims to elevate the teaching profession and ensure students receive the highest quality education.
