Chief Munir Balogun, father of Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has spoken out about the ongoing rivalry between his son and fellow artist Davido.
In an exclusive interview with Punch Newspapers, Chief Balogun revealed that he has advised Wizkid to ignore the provocations from Davido’s fan base and to stay focused, avoiding unnecessary distractions.
“I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that,” he explained.
He emphasized that fans often seek attention and stir up controversy for their benefit, adding that Wizkid should rise above the noise. “They are just looking for what they are going to eat, and I told him not to pay much attention to them,” he added.
The elder Balogun also mentioned that he has observed the long-standing tensions between Wizkid and Davido online. This rivalry has sparked numerous debates among fans, with both musicians regarded as some of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry.
