The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced its intention to revoke the ownership rights of several prominent Nigerians to plots of land in Abuja if they fail to pay their outstanding bills for Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) within the next two weeks.
This notice was issued on October 2, in a publication titled “Demand Notice for Payment of Right of Occupancy Bills for Issuance of Certificates of Occupancy on All Lands Allocated at Maitama II District, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja.”
In the announcement, the FCTA warned: “The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) is carrying out infrastructural development in Maitama II (A10) District. All allottees who have not paid their bills for Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) are by this publication advised to settle their bills in full within two (2) weeks from the date of this publication.”
The notice further explained that failure to settle all outstanding land bills, rents, fees, and charges within the stipulated period would lead to the withdrawal of the offers of the Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O) over the plots of land by the Honourable Minister of FCT and subsequent reallocation of the lands.
Payments for the R-of-O/C-of-O bills are to be made electronically through the Remita payment portal to the ‘FCT Department of Land Administration’ account.
