Emirates Airlines has implemented a ban on pagers and walkie-talkies on its flights due to recent security concerns stemming from sabotage attacks in Lebanon. The airline’s decision follows a series of explosive incidents involving communication devices linked to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which has blamed Israel for these attacks.
In a statement on its website, Emirates announced that passengers traveling to, from, or via Dubai are prohibited from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies in either checked or cabin baggage. Any such items found will be confiscated by Dubai Police. This move comes after a wave of blasts last month that resulted in at least 37 fatalities and nearly 3,000 injuries across Lebanon.
Furthermore, Emirates has extended the suspension of its flights to Iraq and Iran until Tuesday due to escalating regional tensions following an Iranian attack on Israel. Although flights to Jordan are set to resume on Sunday, services to and from Lebanon will remain canceled until October 15, as Israel intensifies its military actions in the region, including near Beirut’s only airport.
Other airlines have also suspended flights to and from Beirut and various Middle Eastern destinations amid the ongoing conflict and safety concerns.
