Governors from the five Southeastern states have reaffirmed their support for the burial of the late entrepreneur and politician, scheduled for November 1 at his country home in Attah, Imo State. Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, Obi, represented by Prof. Ike Ikechukwu, Chairman of the Media Sub-committee, provided an update on the arrangements.
“We have continued the necessary sensitization efforts among respected elder statesmen, women, stakeholders, friends, and well-wishers both within and outside the country,” Obi stated. He emphasized the strong commitment from the Southeast governors, who during their last meeting, reaffirmed their resolve to ensure the late leader receives the befitting and dignified exit rites he deserves. National stakeholders and the diaspora community have also been actively organizing additional activities in honor of Ahaejiagamba, the late leader.
“The series of activities planned will culminate in his final interment on November 1, 2024,” Obi added.
Describing Iwuanyanwu as a remarkable gift from God to the Igbo people, Nigeria, and the world at large, Obi praised his significant contributions to nation-building, unity, and the pursuit of equity in national affairs. Iwuanyanwu’s legacy of touching countless lives and communities across various sectors was also highlighted.
Mr. Chris Isiguzo, President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), referred to the late elder statesman as a patriotic Nigerian and one of the best leaders Nigeria ever had. He acknowledged Iwuanyanwu’s profound impact on the lives of many Nigerians and emphasized that his legacy deserves to be celebrated by all.
