NIGERIA IS WINNING THE WAR AGAINST TERROR AND BANDITRY, SAYS MINISTER

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that Nigeria is winning the battle against terror and banditry. He made this announcement during the opening ceremony of the News Agency of Nigeria’s (NAN) 1st Annual International Lecture in Abuja, themed “Insecurity in the Sahel (2008-2024): Dissecting Nigeria’s Challenges – Genesis, Impacts and Options.”

Idris emphasized the government’s commitment to eliminating threats posed by Boko Haram, banditry, and kidnapping. He noted that the administration has successfully eliminated over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders within the last year, showcasing the efficiency of the country’s military efforts.

The Minister acknowledged that while the task ahead is challenging, collaboration and determination among security forces and the public are crucial for safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and restoring peace, particularly in the unstable Sahel region. He highlighted the importance of understanding the root causes of insecurity to develop effective strategies for managing these issues.

Idris also commended NAN for its role in news gathering and its commitment to addressing pressing national problems through informative programs like the lecture
