NDLEA Kaduna Command Seizes Over 1,000 Kg of Illicit Drugs, Arrests 420 Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command reported a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, seizing 1,045.93 kg of various illicit substances and arresting 420 suspects in the third quarter of the year.

Commander Samaila Danmalam disclosed these figures to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna. Among the arrested suspects, 404 were males and 16 were females, representing a mix of drug dealers, users, and traffickers.

Key Seizures and Operations

During this period, the NDLEA Kaduna Command seized a range of illicit substances, including:

  • Cocaine
  • Cannabis Sativa
  • Rohypnol
  • Tramadol
  • Methamphetamine
  • Other psychotropic substances

Additionally, the command confiscated 1,393 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and four locally made firearms during various operations.

Legal Actions and Community Engagement

Danmalam noted that the command secured the conviction of 30 drug offenders and has charged 54 suspects, with investigations into other cases still ongoing.

In a bid to combat drug abuse proactively, the NDLEA implemented several sensitization and awareness programs. They provided counseling to 50 drug users and successfully rehabilitated 50 drug-dependent individuals, who have since been reintegrated into society.
