NDLEA Kaduna Command Reports Significant Drug Seizures and Arrests

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command has reported the seizure of 1,045.93 kg of various illicit substances and the arrest of 420 suspects during the third quarter of the year.

Commander Samaila Danmalam shared these figures with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna. He noted that the arrested individuals included 404 males and 16 females, comprising drug dealers, users, and traffickers.

The seized substances included:

  • Cocaine
  • Cannabis Sativa
  • Rohypnol
  • Tramadol
  • Methamphetamine
  • Other psychotropic substances

In addition to drug seizures, the command also confiscated 1,393 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and four locally made firearms during various operations.

In terms of legal action, the command secured 30 convictions against drug offenders and has charged 54 suspects, with ongoing investigations into additional cases.

To complement its enforcement efforts, the NDLEA has implemented non-kinetic approaches aimed at reducing drug demand. This included various sensitization and awareness programs, counseling for 50 drug users, and rehabilitation of another 50 drug-dependent individuals, who have since been reintegrated into society.

Commander Danmalam emphasized the agency’s commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking and called for timely and actionable information from the public to enhance their response and proactive measures against drug-related offenses.
