Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has announced that the establishment of the Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) will enhance comprehensive economic development in the Niger Delta region. He made this statement during a sensitization workshop for the launch of NDCCITMA, organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Owerri on Wednesday. Uzodimma was represented by his Deputy, Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru.

The governor emphasized that NDCCITMA would act as a catalyst for innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration, fostering a vibrant ecosystem beneficial to all stakeholders. He stated that this initiative aligns with the state government’s vision of creating a region that is economically robust, socially stable, and environmentally sustainable, where businesses can thrive.

In his address, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, explained that NDCCITMA aims to bridge the gap between the commission and entrepreneurs, providing essential support for businesses that struggle to meet the stringent requirements of financial institutions. He noted that the successful establishment of the chambers would complement ongoing projects designed to positively impact the lives of people in the region.

Ogbuku stated, “The activities of the chambers will positively influence the development of robust transport systems, manufacturing, merchandising, mining, marine activities, and food security for our families.” He added that the commission, through NDCCITMA, plans to create a well-structured internship placement system to guarantee job placements for young graduates entering the workforce.
