NIDCOM ADVISES NIGERIANS IN LEBANON TO EVACUATE AMID ESCALATING VIOLENCE

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has issued a warning to citizens in Lebanon, urging them to leave the country while commercial flights remain operational. This advisory comes as Israel has initiated an invasion of southern Lebanon following two weeks of escalating attacks.

According to Lebanese authorities, the ongoing violence has resulted in over 1,000 fatalities and displaced up to one million people from their homes. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described their actions as “limited, localized, and targeted ground raids” against Hezbollah, an armed group backed by Iran.

In a statement, NIDCOM expressed concern over the situation, emphasizing the importance of safety. The statement read, “We hereby advise them to keep safe until a ceasefire is in place.”
