Meta has announced the launch of its Content Monetization beta program for Facebook, designed to enhance the earning potential for content creators. The initiative, revealed on Wednesday, integrates three key monetization tools—In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance bonus—enabling creators to monetize a wider range of content types, including Reels, long-form videos, photos, and text posts.

This new program consolidates Facebook’s existing monetization offerings, providing creators with a unified approach to earn from various formats. Previously, about one-third of creators were able to earn from more than one Facebook-funded program, primarily due to differing eligibility criteria and availability.

Since 2017, over four million creators have generated revenue on the platform, with Facebook paying out more than $2 billion in the past year alone. Meta acknowledged that while its monetization programs have benefited creators, the complexity of different requirements has resulted in missed opportunities for many.

Key highlights of the Content Monetization beta include:

  1. Single Program for Multiple Formats: Creators can now earn from various content formats through one unified program.
  2. Unified Performance Insights: The program provides simplified tracking of earnings and performance across different content types.
  3. Performance-Based Payouts: Creators will continue to receive payouts based on their performance.

The launch comes at a time when earnings from Reels and short-form videos have surged, with payouts increasing by over 80% in the past year. Meta aims to simplify the monetization process, ensuring more creators can take advantage of the earning opportunities available on Facebook
