2025 DIAMOND LEAGUE TO KICK OFF IN XIAMEN, FACES COMPETITION FROM NEW US GRAND SLAM TRACK SERIES

The 2025 Diamond League series will begin in Xiamen on April 26, according to organisers, in what is expected to be a highly competitive season as it faces a challenge from the new US-based Grand Slam Track series, backed by Olympic legend Michael Johnson.

In response to the new competition, which promises to gather “the best of the best” for head-to-head clashes, the Diamond League has increased its prize money to $9.24 million for the 15-meeting season. Meanwhile, the Grand Slam Track series, which has already signed champions like 400m hurdles winner Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, boasts a larger prize pool of $12.6 million.

The 2025 Diamond League season will conclude with a two-day final in Zurich on August 27-28.

  • May 25: Rabat
