A Kano State High Court has scheduled October 10 for a ruling on an interlocutory application aimed at restraining the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, from renovating the Nasarawa Mini Palace.

The applicants in the case include the Kano State Government, the Attorney General of Kano, and the Kano Emirate Council, represented by their counsel Rilwanu Umar SAN. They filed a motion ex parte dated September 12, 2024, seeking to prevent Ado-Bayero from carrying out renovations at the palace located along State Road, Kano. Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero is named as the sole respondent in the suit.

During the hearing of the motion, counsel for the applicants, Habib Akilu, informed the court that the defendant was not present, and that the substantive suit was ready for hearing. Akilu proceeded to move the interlocutory application to restrain the defendant from reconstructing or altering the mini palace.

Justice Dije Abdu-Aboki, the presiding judge and Chief Judge of Kano State, adjourned the matter until October 10 for ruling and to mention the substantive suit. The judge ordered that all relevant court processes should be displayed on the court’s notice board.

It was noted that the court had previously granted an Interim Injunction on September 13, which restrains Ado-Bayero, his agents, and anyone acting on his behalf from demolishing, renovating, or repairing the Gidan Sarki Nasarawa property until the motion on notice is resolved.

The court has also directed all parties involved to maintain the current state of the property pending the outcome of the proceedings.
