NIGERIA SECURES $200 MILLION AFREXIMBANK INVESTMENT TO BOOST CREATIVE INDUSTRY

The Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy has secured a $200 million investment from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to support Nigeria’s burgeoning creative industry. The announcement was made during an event titled “Destination 2030: Nigeria Everywhere” at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The ministry’s Destination 2030 initiative aims to establish Nigeria as a global leader in soft power by 2030. As of 2024, there has been a 36% increase in Nigeria’s cultural influence and an 18% rise in its brand perception index, reflecting the success of the country’s cultural diplomacy.

Minister Hannatu Musawa emphasized the growing international interest in Nigeria’s artistic heritage, highlighting the promising investment opportunities within the global creative economy.
