Niger Delta youths, represented by the Coalition of Niger Delta Youth Stakeholders (CNDYS), have announced plans for a solidarity walk to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary. This initiative is aimed at showing support for President Bola Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The coalition expressed its gratitude to President Tinubu for re-awarding contracts for the East-West Road, which connects the Niger Delta region and enhances accessibility for motorists. They highlighted the importance of these contracts in fostering development and acknowledged the role of Indigenous companies in managing and protecting pipelines to mitigate environmental degradation.

Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, the National Coordinator of CNDYS, emphasized the coalition’s commitment to celebrating independence while advocating for peace and progress. He called on detractors to contribute positively to national unity instead of fostering disunity.

“In acknowledging the aspirations of our people, who produce the golden eggs of the Nigerian economy, we are calling for increased federal government presence in all sectors,” Kemepadei stated. He expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s administration, stating that the president is committed to restoring Nigerians’ faith and addressing the needs of the Niger Delta region.

Kemepadei praised President Tinubu for implementing transformative policies and reforms aimed at correcting past mistakes and positioning Nigeria as an emerging economic superpower. He noted that, despite facing global economic challenges and transitional pains from reforms, the president remains focused on reviving the economy and steering the country toward sustainable growth.

The coalition also highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts to sustain key initiatives such as the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which have direct impacts on the region. They commended the appointment of Niger Deltans to significant federal positions, including:

  • Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack (Federal Head Civil Service)
  • Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri (Minister of State for Petroleum Resources)
  • Chief Nyesom Wike (Minister of the Federal Capital Territory)
  • Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (MD/CEO of NDDC)
  • Dr. Dennis Otuaro (Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme)
  • Mr. Ebitimi Amgbare (MD of Niger Delta River Basin Authority)
  • Senator Godswill Akpabio (President of the Senate)

The solidarity walk is intended to celebrate the independence anniversary and foster unity among the Niger Delta youths, reinforcing their support for President Tinubu’s vision for the region.
