Following an invitation to a hearing by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services, controversial social media personality Verydarkman (VDM) has declined to provide any statements due to the absence of crossdresser Bobrisky at the panel.
On September 30, 2024, VDM appeared before the panel to support his claim that EFCC officers and the Nigerian Correctional Services demanded ₦15 million from Bobrisky to allow him to serve his prison term in a VIP section of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos.
However, upon realizing that Bobrisky was not present, VDM refused to answer any questions, as captured in a viral video of the event.
“I don’t understand why I am here, and the person who made these allegations is not here. In the voice note, Bobrisky mentioned something about a godfather; maybe the godfather advised him not to come because nothing would happen. He has disrespected this committee by not showing up, and you expect me to talk,” he stated.
He added, “You’re already threatening me with arrest, saying you will detain me. I’ll stay in the cell; it’s not my first or second time. I’ll remain there until he is ready to talk. If Bobrisky is not here, I will not say anything; if I do, let me die.”
VDM’s refusal to cooperate was met with murmurs of confusion from those present at the hearing.
