NIGERIAN ARMY ELIMINATES EIGHT TERRORISTS, RESCUES 40 ABDUCTED INDIVIDUALS

The Nigerian Army has announced the successful elimination of eight terrorists and the rescue of 40 abducted individuals in a series of coordinated operations across the country. The army shared these updates in a post on its official X handle on Monday, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and enhance national security.

Key Operations and Outcomes:

  • Intelligence-Led Operations: On September 28, troops conducted a strategic stop-and-search operation along the Lafia-Keffi Road in Nasarawa State, resulting in the arrest of a firearms courier with 303 live rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition hidden in a bag. The suspect and his vehicle were taken into custody for further investigation.
  • Precision Strikes in Kaduna: In Kaduna State, troops executed targeted strikes in the forests near Danmari and Saulawa villages, eliminating one terrorist. Additional engagements in Ankwa village led to the elimination of two more terrorists, along with the recovery of a locally made firearm, 11 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle used by the terrorists.
  • Recovery in Borno State: Troops encountered fleeing terrorists in Faayijiwa Fandanari village, recovering two AK-47 rifles, 61 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), 51 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, hard drugs, and various supplies. The terrorists abandoned their weapons when faced with superior firepower from the troops.
  • Hostage Rescue in Kukawa: In Kukawa Local Government Area, troops intercepted terrorists attempting to relocate abducted victims from Cijin village. The terrorists fled, leaving behind 38 hostages, which included six men, eight women, and 24 children, who were safely rescued.
  • Ambush in Yobe State: Troops responding to reports of terrorists extorting civilians successfully ambushed in Sasawa village, neutralizing one terrorist and recovering an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle.

The Chief of Army Staff praised the troops for their bravery and dedication to restoring peace in Nigeria. He also acknowledged the vital role of citizens in providing credible information that aids in these operations.
