Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Operation Hadin Kai, Sector 3, successfully thwarted an attempted attack by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists along the Magumeri-Maiduguri axis in Borno.
In a statement released on Sunday from Maiduguri, Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osaba, Chief Military Information Officer of the MNJTF in N’djamena, Chad, reported that the troops conducted a tactical ambush, neutralizing the threat before the terrorists could harm civilians.
Osaba explained that the troops strategically positioned themselves along the terrorists’ route and engaged them as they emerged from a forested area on motorcycles. Upon spotting the troops, the terrorists attempted to flee but were met with intense gunfire, forcing them to abandon their weapons and motorcycles.
The operation resulted in the recovery of various weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, 51 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two magazines, 61 rounds of 7.62 NATO ammunition, as well as parcels of marijuana and Tramadol. This decisive action disrupted the terrorists’ plans to unleash violence in the region.
