The Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, announced on Sunday that more than 40% of Nigerians now enjoy up to 20 hours of daily power supply, a significant achievement attributed to revolutionary measures implemented by the Ministry of Power with the backing of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement made in Abuja, Adelabu highlighted that these advancements are part of the renewed hope agenda aimed at energizing the economy. He credited the improvements in the power sector to bold steps taken by his administration, emphasizing President Tinubu’s advocacy for stable power as essential for industrialization.

The minister reported that the generation of over 5,500 megawatts of power is among the ministry’s notable accomplishments in the past year, with plans to enhance this further by year-end.

Adelabu stated, “Reliable, functional, and affordable electricity is crucial for industries, businesses, institutions, and households. This is vital for driving Nigeria’s economic growth and industrial development.”

He reiterated President Tinubu’s New Year’s message about the necessity of stable electricity for powering critical sectors, underscoring that no sector can thrive without it.

The minister outlined the administration’s vision to ensure a stable electricity supply for households, businesses, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities, aiming to empower these entities to improve infrastructure and create job opportunities.

Adelabu confirmed that the ministry collaborates with various agencies, 27 power generation companies, and 11 electricity distribution companies to achieve these goals.
