NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL SERVICE SUSPENDS SENIOR OFFICERS AMID ALLEGATIONS

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has suspended several senior officers following a viral video related to alleged infractions involving Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

The suspended officers include Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, both Deputy-Controllers in charge of Medium and Maximum Security Custodial Centres in Kiri-Kiri, Lagos. Additionally, ASC II Ogbule Obinna, stationed at the Afikpo facility, has been suspended for allegedly taking a convicted inmate outside the custodial centre. Another officer, Iloafonsi Ikechukwu, Deputy-Controller at Kuje-Abuja, was suspended for reportedly accepting money on behalf of an inmate.

The Secretary of the board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, stated that the suspensions aim to facilitate investigations into these allegations, promising transparency in the process.
