Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has criticized Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for not delivering on his 100-day pledge to eradicate banditry in the state. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Shinkafi, who is also the Executive Director of the Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in Zamfara.

Shinkafi highlighted the increasing bandit attacks in the state, noting the resignation of former Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar, as Chairman of the Zamfara State Security Trust Fund’s Board of Trustees, which he attributed to the government’s ineffective security strategy. In response to criticism, the government reconstituted the security trust fund, appointing Brig-Gen. Abdulkadir Gumi as chairman and Alh. Sambo Garba as chairman of the fundraising committee.

Shinkafi urged the governor to focus on delivering the dividends of democracy and security to Zamfara’s residents, emphasizing the need for effective leadership and collective effort to address the state’s insecurity. He stressed that the unfulfilled promise to end banditry requires urgent and tangible progress.
