No fewer than five police officers from the Kano State Police Command have been confirmed dead following a fatal motor accident on the Kano-Zaria highway. SP Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s spokesperson, reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, resulting in 11 others sustaining injuries.
According to SP Haruna, the accident took place near Karfi village in the Kura Local Government area while the officers were returning to Kano from an official assignment. He stated, “The accident occurred around 1 am when a trailer was attempting to reverse on the main road along the Kano-Zaria highway.”
He confirmed that five officers lost their lives due to the accident, while the 11 injured officers are currently receiving medical treatment in a Kano hospital.
